Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Teaching

Through the support of various centers and organizations, I have been able to invite students from underrepresented groups to visit my InfoSeeking Lab, meet with current students and faculty, and learn about education and research related to STEM. This has resulted in multiple high school students from diverse gender and ethnic backgrounds to join the lab for a semester or over summer and gain first-hand research experience.

I have supported underprivilege students (often coming from poor families, and first to go to college) through Rutgers University’s School of Social Work.

At Rutgers, I regularly worked with Douglas Residential College’s Women in STEM mentoring program, supporting one female student every spring semester, often leading into continual support in the summer.
