Historically, my InfoSeeking Lab has had more women and underrepresented members than their counterparts. This has not happened by accident; rather, such a configuration is a result of proactive actions I have taken over all these years.
I have made active efforts to cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion within InfoSeeking Lab. One of such efforts is an initiative called Women of InfoSeeking.
I have engaged with the United Nations Data Analytics group to work on several of UN’s sustainable development goals. A couple of these goals directly deal with issues of equity and fairness.
I launched a new platform called Science for Social Good (S4SG) in 2017. Through this platform, I am working to (1) continue extending my work and outreach efforts for diversity, fairness, and inclusion issues; and (2) engage other groups and organizations to do the same.
